Cayuga County to hire consultant for $160,000 BOA pre-planning inventory

Planner Nathaniel Rogers told the committee Cayuga County was awarded $160,000 for a countywide BOA pre-planning inventory and analysis to map underutilized, vacant and abandoned commercial and industrial buildings (excluding the City of Auburn). The 24-month grant project began April 1; staff released an RFP for consultant services, held a bid opening on July 9 that produced three proposals, and submitted a resolution to award a contract this month. The grant is structured as a 90/10 match with the state providing 90% and the county contributing the remaining 10% in staff time and project expenses.
The BOA pre-planning work aims to identify smaller clusters recommended for future BOA designation, integrate existing planning efforts and better characterize conditions for potential brownfield redevelopment. The committee adopted Resolution 8-25-PL-2 to award the contract; the motion was made by Legislator Ben Vitale, seconded by Tom Winslow and recorded as "all in favor."
