County advances Emerson Park EV chargers and solar under NYSERDA grants; Legislature approves purchase authorization

Planner Emily Antonacci reported the county has two NYSERDA Clean Energy Communities grants — a $10,000 award and a $125,000 award totaling $135,000 — that will fund solar installations and up to four public EV charging stations at Emerson Park, plus a rooftop array at the motor pool. Antonacci said components and installation will be covered by the NYSERDA grants combined with IRA direct pay tax credits, NY-SUN incentives and joint utility Make Ready incentives, and that construction of the EV charging stations will likely begin next fall pending contractor and utility approvals.
At the Aug. 14 meeting the committee adopted Resolution 8-25-PL-4 to authorize the purchase and installation of ChargePoint EV charging stations for Emerson Park to be paid from the grant funds; the motion was made by Legislator Ben Vitale and seconded by Tom Winslow and recorded as "all in favor." The Planning and Parks teams are coordinating procurement and site feasibility, while rooftop solar work remains contingent on a motor pool roof bid and replacement schedule.
