Town of Conquest finalizes proposed land use regulations, public hearing set Aug. 18

Senior Planner Evan Tuthill updated the committee that the Town of Conquest contracted Cayuga County Planning to draft a comprehensive set of land use regulations. The steering committee finalized proposed regulations intended to create a "Town of Conquest Land Use Regulations Law" covering site plan review, special use permits, solar energy systems, town-level environmental review and subdivision regulation. The town has completed public informational meetings and initiated environmental review on May 19; the County's GML 239 committee recommended approval on June 18.
Tuthill said a public hearing is scheduled for August 18 and that the Town Board anticipates adopting the local law immediately after the hearing. The project has generated $9,933.80 in revenue for the county to date and is expected to generate roughly $2,500 more before completion; the town has also budgeted $5,000 in FY2025 for CCPED training on permit and review processes.
