Charles City County Board adopts FY27 budget; Patterson votes no

The Charles City County Board of Supervisors adopted the FY27 operating budget, local appropriation to Charles City County Public Schools, the FY27–FY31 Capital Improvement Plan and the Personnel Plan at its April 28, 2026 meeting. Board Member Michael Hill moved to adopt the budget; the vote was recorded as Hill aye, Ryan Patterson nay, and Chairman Byron Adkins, Sr. aye, providing a two-to-one majority for passage.
The budget adoption also included related resolutions and ordinances required to implement the plan and set the county’s fiscal framework for the coming year. Board materials and the motion record were entered into the public record; the Board directed quarterly financial reporting to continue, with the next report to include delinquent tax collection status and more detailed actuals versus forecast. No additional amendments to the adopted FY27 budget were recorded at the meeting.
