The Beaver County Commission approved an Agriculture Protection Area for Jed Albrecht Farms after a public hearing on Jan. 6. County staff and advisory-board representatives explained the Agriculture Protection Area (APA) process and changes to notification requirements that took effect in November 2025. The Planning and Zoning Board recommended approval, with member Darin Malchus recorded in opposition.
Multiple members of the Albrecht family and other agricultural owners spoke during the public hearing. Supporters included Brett Albrecht (Calvin Albrecht Farms), Rebecca Albrecht and Jed Albrecht; opponents included Sonia Busby and Sheila Romero. Commissioner Tammy Pearson moved to approve the APA; Commissioner Brandon Yardley seconded the motion and the commission voted 3-0 in favor. Roll call was recorded as Pearson (aye), Hollingshead (aye), Yardley (aye).
