Jefferson County approves $50,000 allowance for lake entrance widening and four summer vendors

Jefferson County commissioners approved changes to the Jefferson County Lake entrance and several seasonal vendor applications at their Feb. 9 meeting.
Parks & Recreation staff presented plans to widen the entrance to create two incoming lanes, add a second cash booth and adjust fence lines; the project was proposed to be funded using impact fees. Commissioner Clark moved to approve the change "not to exceed $50,000," Chairman Hancock seconded, and the motion passed by roll call. Martin Jones said the project aims to be completed before the lake opens in May.
Separately, the board approved four summer vendors — Taqueria El Pollo Loco, Tropical Sno, Tres Hermanas and Taylor's Sno Cone — each by separate motion and roll call vote. Jones also reported that the shelter reservation lottery was a success and that two shelters were being held for a June event connected to the Independence Day celebration.
The board did not amend the $50,000 cap during the public meeting and directed staff to proceed with planning and procurement under the impact-fee authority.
