WRC and Waste Zero outline pilot trash-bag program for the Recycling Center

The WRC met July 21 and heard a presentation from Waste Zero about a proposed pilot program to sell rolls of five trash bags for use with the town Recycling Center and ordinary residential disposal needs. Kristen Brown, representing Waste Zero, said the company is preparing pricing and logistics and needs local data to finalize plans.
"I need the estimated tonnage and estimated cost of transportation of the trash," Brown said, saying those figures and an estimate of participants will determine the price Waste Zero will charge for a roll of five bags. Waste Zero proposed retail distribution at local stores, a volunteer-driven sign-up campaign, and an early-November launch tied to a 'Pumpkin Launch' event at the Recycling Center. Waste Zero requested that the WRC place a formal motion to proceed on the August 12 agenda.
