Board adopts HDR findings, submits drain permit for Valley Street Bank Stabilization Project

The Ward County Water Resource Board adopted a consultant memorandum from HDR and directed the chair to return a drain permit application to the North Dakota Department of Water Resources (DWR) with no conditions, the board said March 12.
Chris Korkowski, HDR's consultant, told the board DWR determined the project "has no statewide or interdistrict significance" and that HDR had provided a comprehensive memorandum documenting the project. Board member Roger Kluck moved to adopt the HDR memorandum as the board's findings and Jason Zimmerman seconded; the motion passed 3-0.
Zimmerman then moved and Kluck seconded to have Chairman Tom Klein sign and return the drain permit application to DWR with no conditions attached; that motion also passed 3-0. Korkowski said HDR will notify interested parties who participated in the public hearings about the DWR filing.
The board recorded its actions as formal motions during the special meeting; the board also approved advertising for construction bids related to the project (see separate coverage of procurement actions). The meeting adjourned at 9:39 a.m.
