Jennifer Merrow, Pottawatomie County Emergency Management Director, updated the board on several preparedness and community-safety efforts during the March 30 meeting. She described planning for Fourth of July events, work on Teen CERT training, progress on an outdoor warning-siren project and a completed tabletop exercise for Wellsprings of Westmoreland.
Merrow also presented the Hazard Mitigation Plan 2025 for adoption; commissioners voted to adopt it as Resolution 2026-14 (see separate article). The operational updates serve as the basis for implementing the plan’s measures and for prioritizing future grant applications and community outreach about preparedness measures.
