The Training Subcommittee reported orientation for the volunteer fire academy included HazMat training for new recruits and that the bridge program for the 2025 recruits is in its final stage but paused for the current academy; the committee will reevaluate the bridge program in July.
The committee announced that Fire Captain Steve Wilburn will join the training team in February to focus on EMS. Committee members also said a state medical official is looking to shift EMS requirements "from PSFA toward EMR by January of 2027," and that LENSA will determine whether Narcan use will change under the new requirements.
