County staff told commissioners that hazardous-materials testing at the Madison Valley Manor kitchen project will begin this week as part of pre-construction steps. "We're beginning hazardous materials testing this week," a county staff member said, and staff explained the precaution is to document conditions now so unexpected findings during construction can be handled without delay.
Staff said the contract for Jackson to serve as construction manager is expected to be placed on next Tuesday’s agenda for approval, and that rural development comments from USDA are still pending. The staff member also said they likely will replace the existing exhaust hood because sufficient information on the current unit was not found; that work was already included in the project budget, they said. No formal contract award was recorded at this session.
