UW-Extension REV update: Hurley team committed; Mercer to apply

Lisa Taylor, Wisconsin REV Program Lead with UW-Extension, briefed the Iron County Economic Development Committee on the county’s engagement with the REV (Rural Entrepreneurial Venture) program at the Jan. 28 meeting. Joseph Miller reported on the 2026 UW-Extension Iron County Entrepreneur Boot Camp, which took place Jan. 5–9.
County Board Chair Larry Youngs told the committee the Hurley REV team—which met in September for a program kickoff—is committed to remaining in the program. The committee agreed a team in Mercer will apply to join REV. Miller acknowledged he will work to improve communications with the Hurley team and to assist formation of a Mercer team; Autumn Hill said she will withdraw from the Hurley team.
The update focused on local team participation and next steps for outreach and coordination rather than on funding or formal commitments by the county. No vote or formal county commitment was recorded during the presentation.
