Donald Komara, Residency Administrator for the Virginia Department of Transportation, briefed the Board on recent bridge, road and rural‑rustic activities and the county’s proposed SMART SCALE projects. The Board voted to support an application to construct a second left‑turn lane on Stone Spring Road (Route 280) at Reservoir Street (Route 710), a second left‑turn lane on eastbound US 33 at Resort Drive (Route 644), and shoulder widening on an approximately 900‑foot section of Mayland Road (Rt 259) with an intersection conflict warning system at Phillips Store Road and Wampler Road. All three resolutions were adopted by roll call vote.
Board members framed the resolutions as part of a broader effort to reduce congestion and improve safety on county roads. The motions were carried unanimously by the Board, recorded as DALE–AYE; HENSLEY–AYE; LONGCOR–AYE; RITCHIE–AYE; WOLFE‑GARRISON–AYE.
Next steps include transmission of the endorsed applications to VDOT for SMART SCALE consideration and any required follow‑up documentation to finalize Round 7 submissions.
