At the work session, staff asked the council to indicate which of three one-time 2-minute-pitch items it would prioritize if year-end savings are realized: roll expiring incentives to the Catalyst Fund, a Civic Center pool site analysis and life-cycle plan, and a campaign-finance consultant proposal presented at about $70,000. Mayor Pro Tem and several council members identified the pool analysis and in-kind special-event funding as higher priorities than the consultant.
Council member Samantha (Representative, District 6) voiced appreciation for staff and recommended funding the expiring incentive roll to the Catalyst Fund, in-kind special-event funding and the pool analysis but said she did not support the campaign-finance consultant in its current form. Staff and others clarified that none of these items are currently funded and that allocations would be considered only if year-end savings materialize.
