Wolf Point and Roosevelt County discuss MOU for property cleanup and Mosquito District governance

During the Oct. 28 meeting Roosevelt County Commissioners and Wolf Point Mayor Chris Dschaak discussed intergovernmental cooperation on property cleanup under a previously approved MOU. Mayor Dschaak said the city received the county’s tax‑deed list and believes the first five properties under consideration fall within city limits; the city will discuss and identify which properties it will assume at its Nov. 17 council meeting and report back to the county by the commission’s Nov. 18 meeting.
The commissioners also raised returning governance of the Mosquito District to the city (statutorily the mayor and city council serve as trustees). Mayor Dschaak said he did not see a problem with the transfer; the board agreed to consult the county attorney to confirm legal steps. The city will also explore brownfield grant funding through GNDC to assist with demolition and cleanup of problematic properties.
