Roosevelt County commissioners approve $660,442.91 in claims; June payroll totals reported

The Roosevelt County Board of Commissioners approved claims of $660,442.91 and a series of personnel actions during its July 1 session, and later received a full accounting of county payroll and fund receipts for June.
At the July 1 meeting Presiding Officer Commissioner Gordon Oelkers and Commissioners Robert Toavs and Doug Marottek thanked long-time dispatch employee Myklynn Lewis and approved the claims after Commissioner Toavs moved to approve “the claims for $660,442.91,” a motion seconded by Commissioner Marottek and recorded as passed. The board also approved multiple hires — including John Plestina as assistant curator and several road-department hires — and approved a pay raise for Sydney Thompson.
County financial reporting presented later in July showed the county’s detailed fund balances and receipts. The minutes record total payroll with workers compensation and unemployment at $820,195.18 and the combined total of claims and payroll for June 2025 as $2,176,062.31. The Treasurer’s report listed investment interest receipts from Opportunity Bank and other deposits including multiple oil-royalty payments to the general fund.
The actions recorded were routine approvals; motions were made and seconded and the minutes record the outcomes as passed. According to the meeting record, the board took no additional fiscal actions requiring separate ratification beyond those listed in the minutes. The board adjourned each meeting on the record at the times noted in the minutes.
