Solid waste manager reports DEQ comment, equipment repairs and litter-fighting research

Brandy also reviewed equipment repairs — a cracked DEF tank on a scraper, parts replaced and some high-cost repairs processed through claims — and discussed options to reduce blown trash, including researching a specialized machine that could cost $130,000–$150,000 but might pay for itself over a decade by reducing litter and cleanup labor. Commissioners asked that staff continue to evaluate cost and effectiveness and report back with a recommended procurement plan and funding source if they decide to proceed.
