County approves moving to Phase 2 of master space plan after Phase 1 baseline study

Charlotte County’s Facilities Management Director Travis Purdue and consultants from CBRE presented Phase 1 findings from a countywide master space plan: they surveyed departments, toured roughly 900,000 square feet of county facilities, and prepared departmental profiles that identified capacity shortfalls and inconsistent space quality across the portfolio.
CBRE said the next phase will quantify current utilization, benchmark against peers, create revised space‑allocation guidelines and model personnel growth to identify portfolio gaps. ‘‘Phase 2 will allow us to ultimately make sure that we measure how space is being utilized today, benchmark that against other government entities, and make sure we revise space allocation guidelines,’’ the consultant said. Commissioners unanimously directed staff to proceed into Phase 2, emphasizing flexibility, resilience and attention to needs across constitutional offices.
