County extends GPS telematics contract; staff to provide fleet counts and cost history

The Board of County Commissioners voted to extend a telematics services agreement that provides GPS tracking and vehicle data for county fleets. Senior purchasing manager Kim Corbett told commissioners that unit hardware is provided at no charge and that the monthly service rate is per device; installation is handled by fleet staff.
"GPS Insight has been our vendor for many years," Corbett said when commissioners asked why staff proposed a piggyback contract rather than a new solicitation. Commissioner Constance asked for the total number of devices and the aggregate monthly or annual cost; Corbett said she would provide the historical per‑month estimate and the number of units in service. The board approved the extension and asked staff to return with a breakdown of fleet counts, prior pricing and a projection of annual expense.
