Landfill to bury damaged mattresses; E‑waste packaging underway

Rhonda Carroll, Clay County Landfill Director, reported the landfill has packaged roughly half of the county’s E‑waste and continues working to build a full load for pickup. Carroll said badly damaged mattresses will be buried in the pit rather than transported elsewhere because they are not worth hauling.
The Board instructed staff to stack future mattresses in the pole shed to protect them from the weather. Carroll added that a dump truck currently in the shop is expected back with repairs later in the week.
