On a motion by Supervisor Eurika Tyree, seconded by Supervisor Paul Stimpson, the Board entered a closed meeting citing Va. Code § 2.2-3711.A.8 (consultation with legal counsel regarding litigation and contracts) and § 2.2-3711.A.1 (discussion of prospective candidates for employment). The minutes identify the stated subject matter as current litigation and contracts and an update on consideration of a candidate for County Administrator.
After the closed session the Board reconvened in open meeting and adopted a certification under Va. Code § 2.2-3712 stating, to the best of each member’s knowledge, that only matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements were discussed and that no action was taken in closed session. The Board then adjourned and scheduled a joint budget workshop with the School Board for March 3, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. at Cumberland County Public Schools.
