Plan Commission rezoning approved; CO2 geological sequestration ordinance hearing set for July 27

Pati McLaughlin, administrative assistant, presented recommendations from the July 9 Plan Commission meeting. The commission recommended approval of a rezoning request at 1450 S 400 W in Portland, changing the parcel from Industrial back to Agricultural Residential. Commissioners voted to accept that recommendation.
McLaughlin also presented a proposed CO2 Geological Carbon Sequestration Ordinance. Commissioners voted to set a public hearing on the proposed ordinance for the July 27, 2026 meeting so the public and interested parties may comment before any further action.
