Elections at Patrick County Planning Commission end in ties; Sarah Wray named pro tempore

The Patrick County Planning Commission opened nominations for its 2026 officers and failed to elect a chairman or vice-chair after both votes ended in 3–3 ties.
Sarah Wray nominated Kurt Bozenmayer and Vance Agee nominated Ed Pool for chairman; the roll calls for each candidate split three to three and “The vote resulted in a tie. No Chairman was elected,” according to the meeting record. Nominations for vice-chair produced the same result, with votes split three to three and no vice-chair elected.
To allow the meeting to proceed, the Commission considered appointing a chairman pro tempore for the February meeting. After motions to elect different candidates, the Commission elected Sarah Wray as chairman pro tempore by a 4–2 vote. The clerk opened and closed nominations and recorded the roll calls.
The tie votes meant the Commission did not change long-term leadership at the Feb. 17 meeting; the pro tempore appointment covered the immediate procedural need.
