Suffield P&Z to review drafts on two-family conversions, temporary signs and middle-housing rules; counsel to provide training

During Commission reports, Chairman Jacob Byrnes said Commission Counsel Carl Landolina will provide training at the August 17 meeting. Planning Director Bill Hawkins distributed a draft zoning text amendment that would allow conversions of single-family dwellings to two-family dwellings, and he said the Commission will discuss proposed revisions to temporary sign regulations. Hawkins also said he is working with Counsel to develop draft regulations in response to changes in state statute regarding summary review of middle-housing applications; those drafts will be presented to the Commission for review and input prior to scheduling hearings.
Commissioners did not take formal action on these drafts at the July 20 meeting; staff flagged the items for upcoming discussion and potential public hearings.
