Elk County commissioners certify 2024 general election after canvass

The Elk County Board of Commissioners certified the countywide results of the 2024 general election following a special canvass on Nov. 14, 2024. Commissioner Jake Liebau, chairman, called the canvass to order at 10:25 a.m.; the meeting was attended by Commissioners Perry Russell and Doug Hendricks, Deputy Clerk Stefni Hebb and attendee Kaye Spooner.
Using Chapter 3 of the Kansas Election Standards as guidance, commissioners reviewed 35 ballots for validity and accepted 13. Twelve accepted ballots were processed through the tabulator and the totals were entered on the Certificate of Votes Cast and into the permanent abstract book; qualifying write-in names were added to the Tally Sheet Books and to the single hand-count ballot. The commission signed the permanent abstract book, making the canvass official, and adjourned the meeting at 12:35 p.m.
