County holds midday budget work session; Road & Bridge and Airport budgets see significant increases

After adjourning at noon on June 16, commissioners reconvened at 12:40 p.m. for a budget work session with administrative heads to review department budget requests and long‑range plans. Public Works Supervisor Shaun Minks presented a Road & Bridge budget of $3,251,983.00 (a 7.14% increase) and a Noxious Weed budget of $306,946.00 (a 32.31% increase).
Other budgets presented included County Treasurer $125,935.00 (a 20.41% decrease supplemented by $70,000 in Motor Vehicle funds), Register of Deeds $145,600.00 (+32.67%), Airport $255,300.00 (+62.61%), Data Processing $142,000.00 (+22.41%), Sheriff $1,693,385.00 (+17.64%), Senior Center $485,595.00 (+25.19%), Ambulance $996,118.00 (+3.05%), Fire Department $277,703.00 (−0.91%), Building Maintenance fund $113,100.00 (new), Health Department $755,251.00 (+9.09%), and County Attorney $284,296.00 (+2.21%). Commissioners adjourned the day’s business at 4:42 p.m. and set the next regular meeting for July 7, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
