Ellis County Public Works to shift to 10-hour summer days starting April 6

Ellis County Public Works Director Brandon told commissioners the department will shift its summer schedule to 10-hour workdays beginning April 6 (originally planned to start March 30 but adjusted because of Good Friday) to give crews more continuous hours for upcoming projects including Reservation Road improvements and the asphalt season.
Commissioners unanimously supported the change and described it as a workable step to help the department complete seasonal projects more quickly. "That would just be changing our hours to the 10 hour days, the duration of that for the projects we have upcoming, Reservation Road improvement, and our asphalt season," Brandon said. County staff will update schedules and make the change effective April 6.
Next steps: Public Works will implement the revised work schedule on April 6 and coordinate project timelines accordingly.
