County authorizes tower leases to support fiber installation for broadband project

Wyoming County authorized several tower site leases on Feb. 3, 2026 to support installation of fiber-optic cable as part of its broadband project.
The committee approved a lease with ACT Sequoia, LLC for a pole on Big Tree Road with a one-time fee of $2,000 and monthly rent of $1,000 that will increase 4% annually; a second ACT Sequoia lease for Schwab Road carries an annual license fee of $980 with a 2% annual increase. The committee also approved a seven-year lease with Crown Atlantic Company, LLC for a Maxon Road pole at $900 monthly with 3% annual increases. Each lease includes renewal options. Motions to approve the leases were carried on motions by Supervisor Smith (Ayes:7).
County staff noted the leases are necessary to place fiber on utility poles owned by Grid (to be used for the county’s broadband buildout). The minutes record the leases as professional service contracts (MUNIS contract numbers pending).
