Auditor: Bentonsport assessment notices approved; auditor to check alarm monitoring quote; board certifies utility values

County Auditor Lisa Plecker reported a Dec. 5 inspection of the 1896 office building's fire alarm system found no concerns but noted there is no central station monitoring; Protex Central, Inc. submitted a quote for monitoring and the board tabled action so Plecker can consult the county’s insurance provider.
Plecker also requested and received board authorization to send Notices of Assessment of Omitted Property for a list of Bentonsport parcels vacated April 8, 2024, as allowed under Iowa Code Section 443.6 and Iowa Admin. Rule 701‑102.25(1)(b). The board approved new and current homestead, military and disabled veteran credits for the FY2025–2026 taxes payable year. The board then adopted Resolution #12‑09‑2024B pursuant to §433.9, Code of Iowa, directing the auditor to spread assessed and taxable values of utility company property for assessment year 2024 (payable FY2025–2026).
