Paul 'PJ' Yodnacek of the West Piedmont Planning District Commission told supervisors that a local flood preparedness plan is a prerequisite for the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation's Community Flood Preparedness Fund and described recent award rounds; the board voted unanimously to adopt the resolution to pursue the plan.
Yodnacek said the plan will outline vulnerabilities and a prioritized pipeline of projects and noted the Commonwealth awarded large sums for planning and mitigation in recent rounds. The board accepted the resolution by voice vote and asked staff to proceed with next steps to pursue grant opportunities and coordinate with the Patrick County Soil and Water Conservation District.
