Board ups Social Services Board stipends; one supervisor recuses

The board approved a resolution increasing monthly stipends for members of the Social Services Board. County staff presented a letter from the chair of the Social Services Board requesting the increase, and the proposed new rates are $150 monthly for the board chair, $125 for the vice chair and $100 for remaining members (up from $75 currently).
One supervisor who also sits on the Social Services Board signaled he would recuse himself from voting on the matter. After discussion about when the stipend was last adjusted, Vice Chairman Pierce moved approval and the board carried the motion by voice vote.
The change will take effect following the administrative steps required to implement stipend adjustments and any related budget updates.
