Board approves new Property & Evidence Manager position and two hires

Commissioners added a Property and Evidence Manager position (Grade 16) effective Feb. 19, 2025, and approved hiring Kimberly King for that role and Jermembulus King as Heavy Equipment Operator in Roads & Bridges, effective Feb. 19.
Commissioner Gottwals presented personnel items and the board unanimously approved adding a Property and Evidence Manager position to the Houston County Position Control Listing at Grade 16, effective Feb. 19, 2025. The board also approved hiring Kimberly King to fill that position at Grade 16 step E and approved hiring Jermembulus King for a Heavy Equipment Operator position (Grade 13 step C) in Roads & Bridges, both effective Feb. 19, 2025.
Chairman Perdue said the Property and Evidence Manager candidate has prior experience in the role with another jurisdiction, is POST‑certified and is familiar with the county's computer system; the position was created at the sheriff's request following a retirement. Commissioners thanked Public Works staff for recruiting qualified heavy equipment operator applicants.
Accounting directives were included to make necessary budget adjustments related to adding the position.
