Houston County approves contracts, hires and vehicle purchase; pays $5.04 million in bills

At its Feb. 4 meeting the Houston County Board approved several routine contracts, personnel actions and a vehicle purchase as part of consent and general business items.
The board renewed a two-year contract with Perdue, Brandon, Fielder, Collins & Mott LLP to serve as the county's collection agency for unpaid traffic citations and fees. It also approved a GIS services contract with GMASS of Norwood, Georgia, for January–June 2025 at a cost of $15,212.50 with renewal options in July; accounting staff were authorized to make necessary budget adjustments.
In procurement action, the board accepted a bid from Hamby Automotive Network Inc. for one Chevrolet Tahoe LT to replace a Sheriff's Office vehicle at a cost of $65,374.70, funded by 2018 SPLOST. Personnel actions included hiring Megan Rodriguez as a secretary in the District Attorney’s Office (Grade 8 Step C, effective Feb. 3, 2025) and reappointing Tara Johnson to the Middle Georgia Aging Advisory Council for a two‑year term starting Jan. 31, 2025. The board also approved payment of bills totaling $5,035,951.84.
