Commissioner Gottwals presented and the board unanimously approved providing financial support of $15 million from 2006 SPLOST to the Georgia Department of Transportation for improvements to US‑41 between Watson Blvd. and SR‑247C (Lakeview Road).
Chairman Perdue said the full project is estimated at $54 million and that the county's $15 million will reimburse GDOT for design fees, right‑of‑way and other costs associated with the work; he also said Chairman Mosely of Peach County would contribute to right‑of‑way costs in Peach County. Commissioner Byrd praised staff and leadership for advancing the project and noted the expected benefits of widening the corridor.
The board recorded unanimous approval and authorized funding from 2006 SPLOST.
