Houston County approves court-management fixes, courthouse change order and VOCA grant for victim services

Commissioner Robinson presented several items related to court operations and victim services. The board approved four Catalis (Benchmark) professional-services change orders: two no-charge software fixes to prevent duplicate parties and to merge duplicate officer parties; a $14,000 addition to allow attorneys to view dockets hidden from the web if they are a party; and a $10,500 addition to streamline the e-filing proposed order screen. Robinson said the Court Management System project has been underway for more than five years and is nearing completion.
The board also approved Change Order #1 for Houston County Superior Courthouse Modifications for $425,279, bringing that project total to $937,530. The change order covers additional scope including new flooring and painting for courtrooms, the District Attorney’s Office and judges' chambers; funding is allocated from Law Library funds ($250,000) and county reserves ($175,279). In the same session, the Commissioners accepted the 2025 VOCA Grant (C23-8-249) for $66,830 for the District Attorney’s Office; the required match was waived.
Commissioners authorized staff to finalize contracts and implementation timetables for both the software and construction work.
