The Houston County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 7 approved an employment contract with Courtney Bridges to serve as the court reporter for incoming Superior Court Judge Amy Smith from Jan. 8 through June 30, 2025. Commissioner Gottwals presented the request and the motion passed on a 3-0 recorded vote.
The six-month arrangement is budgeted at $4,483.85 for January 2025, $5,791.66 for February through May 2025, and $5,791.74 for June 2025, for a total of $33,442.23; the Board also authorized Accounting to make any necessary budget adjustments to accommodate the contract. Chairman Perdue noted a prior applicant had declined the position before this contract was finalized.
