Houston County awards $4.53 million contract to widen Wilson Drive/Elberta Road

The Houston County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to accept the low bid of $4,534,588.90 from McLeRoy, Inc. of Zebulon, Georgia for the Wilson Drive/Elberta Road Widening Phase 1 project.
Commissioner Talton presented the bid tabulation and County staff noted four bids were received. The City of Centerville will directly pay $455,420.50 to relocate a water main on the project. County staff said the project will be paid from the county’s 2018 SPLOST funds.
Commissioner Byrd praised county staff for managing the bidding process. The board’s approval includes standard contract award language and directs staff to finalize the construction contract and schedule.
