Tonopah commenter says rental-property owners blocked from landfill without business license

During general public comment, a Tonopah resident raised concerns that rental-property owners and their contractors are being denied access to the landfill without a business license and asked whether separate licenses are required for different business names.
The commenter said he manages 30 rentals and learned that a tenant (or contractor) was refused at the landfill because they did not have a license: "They refused to let me in because I don't have a license as a renter," he said, and added that his letter from the county did not explain the rule for rentals. He asked whether he should receive a refund of dump fees and asked the county to provide clearer written guidance for rental property situations.
Chair Bowne allowed the comment to remain on the record although the chair and staff noted the Regional Transportation Commission is not the body that sets landfill policy; Assistant Director Tom Bowling said nothing had been decided yet but staff would work on the problem and follow up with the commenter after the meeting.
The board did not take formal action on the landfill issue and directed staff to address the written guidance and follow up with the speaker.
