Public Health: Senior Health Expo outgrew space; department highlights prevention and immunization services

Heather Dittmer, Goshen County Public Health County Nurse Manager, reported that the May 20 Senior Health Expo at the Pony Express Room was successful and likely outgrew the site, prompting the department to seek a larger venue next year. Dittmer also said the Public Health Office now has two sunscreen dispensers available for checkout for large events.
During her report, Dittmer summarized that much of the department’s work focuses on prevention — immunizations and education — and that the office administers multiple grant-funded programs that provide parenting resources, healthy infant programs, services for children with special health care needs, and reproductive and sexual health testing. The commission voted to accept the Public Health report on a motion from Commissioner Walsh.
