Public Works reports 16.9 miles completed in Pahrump, schedules scrub-seal demo

Assistant Director Bo gave a multi-part update on roads and maintenance, saying crews have completed 16.9 miles of chip seal in Pahrump so far and that the county aims for roughly 34 miles this year if weather permits.
"As of now, we've completed 16.9 miles in Pahrump," Bo said. He described extensive prep and patching work that crews have done and noted that in some areas the work has held up better than full grind-and-replace. Bo said Western Emulsions will bring a distributor truck with a scrub box for a product demo tentatively scheduled for Sept. 17; the supplier is donating the equipment for the demonstration and staff invited commissioners to observe the trial.
Bo said crews will follow the demo with more chip-seal work in Carvers and emphasized that prep work remains the most time-consuming element of the schedule. The update also included a project list the department will address after chip-seal season ends.
