Roads and gravel pit updates: county awaits state mining permit; NextEra will seek road‑use agreement

Goshen County Road & Bridge staff reported that recent heavy rainfall was handled well on roads where crews had been working, but a state mining permit for the county gravel pit remains outstanding. County Road & Bridge Superintendent Chris Stoddard and County Surveyor Bob Taylor updated the commission on maintenance results and permitting delays.
Taylor said County Road 1, which the county shares with Platte County, will be affected by an upcoming NextEra project and that NextEra will seek a road-use agreement split between the two counties. He asked that the counties hold a joint meeting after a survey is completed to establish a plan before any agreement with NextEra is finalized. The minutes record no agreement yet; Taylor recommended inter-county coordination before the county signs any road-use contract.
