Brian Locker, assistant engineer, told the board the department's budget shows a roughly $800,000 to $1.2 million variance that reflects maintenance the county could not complete because crews were tied up with snow removal.
"Snow removal will consume a lot of that general maintenance items for a month... Our crews are out there. We're preparing potholes, and we're doing some upkeep on the gravel roads to address some work orders," Locker said. He added that primary and secondary mowing will start around April–May and that Route 60 school-zone photo enforcement is up and running under contract; funding for courthouse-area crosswalks is not currently available and VDOT warrant review may be needed.
