The board approved awarding the school complex crosswalk and sidewalk contract to Cypress Woods for $82,950 after staff presented three bids ranging roughly from $82,000 to $93,000.
Project staff said the effort installs sidewalks and crosswalks in two locations near the high school and middle school and the county is coordinating sign and striping work with VDOT. "The bid from Cypress Woods in the amount of $82,950 would be the recommended proposal to do the sidewalks," staff told the board.
Because the project was not in the FY26 CIP, the board authorized transferring money from the fund balance and approved an amendment (the motion included $90,000 from fund balance to cover the project), and the motion carried on a voice vote.
