Miss Cruz reported that under Virginia Code §10.1-1422 the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality awarded the county $9,953.46 for litter prevention and recycling programs. "I am recommending that the board appropriate funds totaling $9,953.46 received from DEQ to the solid waste disposal budget for recycling and youth education initiatives," Miss Cruz said.
After a motion and second, the board voted to appropriate the grant funds as recommended. Finance staff noted the allocation must follow grant requirements for use on eligible litter prevention and recycling activities.
