Tom Soules and Sue Brofman, representing the Amvets’ plans, told the Select Board about a 250th celebration scheduled for August 8 at Isaac Walton field and asked whether money could be drawn from the town’s Celebrations account to help cover costs. The board noted that the 2026 budget cycle has concluded and that the town’s funding for 2027 is already assigned to specific events.
Board members also heard that "Smile Like Jack," held July 11, had over 700 participants, and were reminded the Library Fair is scheduled for July 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Select Board did not authorize additional 2026 funding for the Amvets event during the meeting; any funding request would need to be considered in the appropriate budget cycle or via a separate appropriation.
