Commissioners accept bids for county properties, approve camper trailer sale and authorize negotiation on tied bid

County Manager Juan Vaughan told the board Feb. 16 that a $65,000 bid had been received for county-owned property at 1008 N. King Street in Windsor; commissioners approved accepting that bid by a 5-0 vote. Vaughan also reported an offer of $12,349.99 for county property at 306 W. Main Street in Aulander; commissioners voted to accept that offer 5-0.
Sealed bids for two camper trailers were also reviewed. Camper Trailer #1 received a highest bid of $2,500, which the board accepted. Camper Trailer #2 had tied highest bids at $2,000; the board authorized Attorney Huddleston to negotiate between the two top bidders and return with a negotiated outcome. Commissioner Saunders recused herself from the Camper Trailer #2 vote because her organization was among the bidders.
