Emergency management reports drought, siren upgrades; IT transition to new accounting software underway

Emergency Management Coordinator and interim IT Director Thomas (Thom) Bozeman summarized June activities and ongoing projects, including siren upgrades, delivery of new consolettes, grant application work, and a partial award for an additional RIMS server. Bozeman reported recent grant outcomes and told commissioners that some IT proposals were denied while others were awarded: a courthouse magnetometer was awarded ($8,298), outdoor warning siren encoders were awarded, while a data-storage Compellent package and an IT cybersecurity package were denied in the grant process.
On the county's accounting-software transition, Bozeman said he has been working with the Tyler Technologies project manager and that staff in the Clerk's and Treasurer's offices are coordinating account-code mapping to move the county into the new fiscal year. "Things are moving forward," Bozeman said, describing Teams-based coordination between offices. The Emergency Management materials also note precipitation deficits (the report states the county is in Extreme Drought standings and that this is "the 3rd driest year on record over the past 132 years"), with siren installations scheduled and an EMPG award for $38,549 recorded in the packet.
