Goshen County fire warden recommends ban remain; municipalities decide on fireworks

In his role as county Fire Warden, Thom Bozeman briefed the commission on local fire risk and recommended continuing the county fire ban. Bozeman said recent precipitation had slightly changed drought classifications but that the near-term forecast offered little additional moisture and the fire danger remained.
Bozeman told commissioners the county ban does not apply to incorporated towns — those municipalities must decide whether to cancel local fireworks — and said both LaGrange and Fort Laramie still planned public fireworks shows at the time of his report. Commissioners agreed the regional fire danger justified keeping the county ban in place and noted municipal officials carry responsibility for local display decisions.
