Survey at Draper Day shows strong resident preference for tree-lined trails, committee says

He summarized the strongest headline findings: nearly all respondents preferred trails and streets with trees and a majority prioritized more attention to planting and maintaining city trees.
The survey showed very high preference for shaded trails and neighborhood tree cover — the chair reported that “99% said with trees” when asked which trail image they preferred and that “97% said they’d rather live in an area with trees.” Committee members emphasized that response rates and stated preferences are useful but do not automatically translate into new revenue; a significant share of respondents said they would not personally pay a new fee but wanted a greater allocation of current city funds toward trees.
Several members asked staff to prepare a short public summary and photographs for the city’s communications channels and to convene a small subcommittee to refine suggested next steps. The committee also discussed adding a clear donation path (QR code and web instructions) to future public outreach so residents who want to give can do so easily.
