Chetopa and St. Paul principals briefed the board on summer programs and building needs. Renee Gillard reported volleyball camps, FBLA participation at the National leadership conference in San Antonio, elementary bathroom stall replacements, middle-school floor painting and work on drainage following summer flooding; she said staff are planning Meet the Teacher Night and a Back-to-School Bash.
Assistant Superintendent and Chetopa principal Jolene Hall said the district will hold a community focus group July 15 at 6:00 PM, and staff are working on handbook updates and a new USD 505 website design. Superintendent Dr. Bobbi Williams told the board a new sixth-grade teacher at Chetopa "would like to look into trap shooting for the students" as a potential extracurricular option, and said the district will require board approval for classroom cash-donation adoptions.
